An Austrian man was found dead by his wife near the pool at a villa where the couple were staying yesterday. The police suggested that the victim suffered a heart attack.

The Austrian national was identified as GN, 77, who stayed in a villa in Keliki Village in Tegallalang with his wife, IN. Local outlets reported that IN initially saw him relaxing and playing with his phone in the sunbed by the pool.

After taking a shower, IN called out for her husband but heard no response. She later approached him and noticed that he was already incapacitated in the sunbed.

GN’s wife immediately called out for help but nobody was around to hear her. She later called the villa management’s front office and two villa staff were sent to help her. The management later alerted a nearby Ubud clinic and the police.

Sadly, GN was pronounced dead at 7pm.

“[The victim’s death] was caused by a heart attack,” said Tegallalang Police chief Ketut Sudita.

GN’s body was brought to the Sanglah Hospital and the police have contacted the Austrian Consulate in Bali.
