A woman from South Dagon Township chopped her husband to death with an axe on Wednesday while he slept, according to Yangon Regional police.
Su Su Hlaing, 38, allegedly confessed, saying her husband, named as Kyaw Myo Linn, had insulted and beaten her.
The police posted an account of the crime, which happened at around 5:30pm, on their Facebook page.
The suspect will be charged under Section 302 of the penal code.
