On November 15, the Yangon Police Force reported the deaths of two women who were in a relationship.
One of the parties involved was an 18-year-old woman from Htantapin Township. Before her death, she had been complaining on the phone to her mother about her girlfriend, Ma Zin Mar Win.
The phone call suddenly ended with shouting on the victim’s side.
The mother grew concerned and travelled to her daughter’s workplace in Shwe Lin Pan Industrial Zone. There, she found her daughter lying on the street with three knife wounds on her body.
Beside her was Ma Zin Mar Win’s body with a knife wound to the chest.
“We heard that they were living together for six years, and our investigations revealed that they were in some sort of romantic relationship. The victim was stabbed and the perpetrator took her own life afterwards”, a police officer confirmed to Eleven.
As of now, it’s unclear what occurred between the end of the phone call and the discovery of the bodies.
We hope that the police soon find out the motive behind this tragic series of events so that both families can get some form of closure.
