Police are investigating a man after he accidentally set off what appears to be a homemade explosive that he was carrying with him, reports Kumudra.

The incident occurred around 7:30 am yesterday morning at a gas station near the Muse-Namhkam highway. The suspect pulled up to the station on his motorcycle and asked for MMK500 worth of gas. However, the station owner refused to sell such a small amount and went back inside the station.

That was when a package wrapped in plastic fell off the motorcycle and exploded upon impact with the ground.

Thankfully, no one was harmed except for the package’s owner, who had injuries on his left leg and both cheeks. He was transported to a nearby hospital.

Police are still trying to determine what was in the package, but they discovered a white remote control and three batteries in one of the man’s pockets upon initial examination. A full investigation is currently been launched into the suspect.
