Myeik police arrested a man on Sunday evening for firing shots into the air after a restaurant refused to sell him alcohol.

The incident took place at a rest stop along the Yangon-Myeik highway. According to a witness who spoke to Kumudra, the man was already visibly inebriated when he pulled up to the restaurant, but no one knew he had a gun on him.

He tried to enter the closed restaurant asking for a beer, so an employee reluctantly sold him one. When he asked for a second bottle, the employee refused and the shopowner told him that they couldn’t serve him any more alcohol. The man then left the shop and once outside, pulled out his gun and fired five shots into the air.

Probably too drunk to make a getaway by that point, the culprit was apprehended by authorities on-site.
