‘Exorcist’ pleads guilty to murdering three children

A Myanmar ‘exorcist’ has pleaded guilty to murder charges after he beat three infant children to death and injured another in an attempt to rid them of evil spirits.

“I lost control of my mind and I killed them”, the perpetrator Tun Naing said during the trial, reports AFP.

According to reports, Naing beat a three-year-old boy to death and then threw him in the Twante canal. Afterwards, he came back to the village and beat three young girls. Two of them — a two-year-old and an eight-month-old — died.

Before the ‘ritual’, Naing reportedly gave the villagers ‘blessed’ water that put them in a trance. He then instructed them to stand around in a circle and chant as he carried out the rest of the ceremony.

Police reports noted that the bodies of the dead children showed signs of being kicked, punched, and stamped on.
