Creative space Ngar Sé is opening this weekend!

Yangon’s creative titans are finally opening the communal creative space we’ve long been waiting for. Ngar Sé, or 50, located at 50 Bo Yar Nyunt Road, will hold its inaugural event tomorrow, and we think you should go.

“One thing I’m excited about is creating a communal space in Yangon. 50 is not a cafe, library or an art gallery – it’s just a space to hang out, be creative and create important dialogue to share in the community. So in short, it’s a hybrid,” said Khin CM Maung, one of the three founders of Ngar Sé, all of whom are also editors of the Yangon Literary Magazine.

The founders hope the space will accommodate artists as well as organisations that want to make Myanmar a more liberated land of opportunity. They say they have plans to host queer meet-ups, a feminist book club and events with the Rangoon Social Studies Club.

Tomorrow’s event will feature several musical performances, including the famed beatboxxer Biz and a new The Smiths cover band.
