Authorities discovered what they believe to be a murder scene on Saturday at the Royal Treasure Inn, located in Excel Tower in Bahan Township.
After receiving word that a murder had taken place, police went to search the building’s premises. There, the body of 21-year-old Sandar, a female employee at the inn, was found in Room C on the building’s sixth floor. She had 14 stab wounds — 13 on her chest and one on her waist — and eight cuts on her face, hand, and shoulder.
Police also found the body of 26-year-old Ye Win, an employee at another inn, with seven stab wounds on his chest, and an eight-inch long steel knife in hand. They suspect that Ye Win killed himself after murdering Sandar.
According to The Voice, the two were a couple.
As of now, the motive behind the crime is undetermined.
The Bahan police station has opened a case under Section 302 of the Myanmar Penal Code, and are conducting an investigation to determine exactly what transpired.
