Argument between couple ends with enraged husband hitting infant son against the floor

A case was filed for trial at the Yangon Eastern District Court earlier this week regarding a horrific incident in which an argument between a husband and wife quickly escalated and led to the death of their infant child.

As Kumudra reports, the events took place this past Sunday when 23-year-old Nay Lin Htet, his wife Than Than Nu, and their one month old child were all at home. Nay Lin Htet was using his phone when the baby started crying, and Than Than Nu told her husband to put his phone down and go comfort their child. The two then got into a fight which spiraled out of control and in a fit of rage, Nay Lin Htet picked up their son by his feet and repeatedly him against the wooden floorboards.

Than Than Nu grabbed their son out of her husband’s hands, but the child already had bruises across his back and splinters in his side. He died almost instantly.

Than Than Nu immediately went to the police station and following a preliminary interrogation, filed the murder charges against Nay Lin Htet on Wednesday under Section 302 of the Myanmar Penal Code.
