88 Generation member Nilar Thein arrested for year-old protest

Nilar Thein, an 88 Generation activist, was arrested on Wednesday in Yangon for something that happened more than a year ago.

She was charged with violating the peaceful assembly law in connection with a protest on February 15 last year in support of students advocating for changes to an education law, according to reports.

Her trial is set to commence on March 7 at the Mayangone Township Court.

She is being held at Insein prison.
