Shaggy-haired Singaporeans flocked to salons today as barbers and hairdressers reopened three weeks after putting down their shears.
The end of the haircut drought was greeted gladly by scruffy patrons who queued at barbershops and salons across the country, according to photos spreading online today.
The move came after Singapore’s COVID-19 task force announced earlier this month it would progressively ease some of the “circuit-breaker” measures, such as allowing some businesses to resume so long as they adhered to safe-distancing measures.
Barbers and hairdressers, for example, can only provide basic services and must ensure people maintain a distance of one meter from each other.
Customers will also need to use the SafeEntry digital check-in system created by the Ministry of Health to facilitate contact tracing. It logs the details of all employees and customers.
Besides hair salons, today also saw the reopening of cake and confectionery outlets, retail laundry services and pet supply retailers.
