As it is with any other celebratory season (like Hari Raya Puasa, Deepavali, and Christmas), public transport in Singapore once again gets decked out in style for the upcoming Chinese New Year festivities.

In collaboration with SBS Transit and Kreta Ayer-Kim Seng Citizens’ Consultative Committee, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) launched CNY-themed trains for an “awesome pawsome” Year of the Dog.

Besides two brightly-colored trains on the North-East Line and North-South/East-West Line running until early March, you can also expect to catch a ride on five buses — services 80, 143, 147, 166 and 174 — adorned with CNY greetings.

Unfortunately, while some netizens praised LTA for the cheery decor, others couldn’t seem to care less about the dog motifs, peach blossom patterns, and what not. Instead, they quickly veered off topic into the issue always in the hearts of commuters in Singapore: train breakdowns.

Guess you just can’t please everyone.
