We all know how much monitor lizards love the water. Earlier this month, one was spotted basking in the rain – in the middle of Serangoon traffic. While current events swept the short-lived viral situation into the lower depths of our minds, occasionally we couldn’t help but wonder what happened to that poor monitor lizard.

We’re just hoping that it’s the same chillbro lizard that’s recently been spotted in the depths of a pool in Jurong East Swimming Complex.

Clearly, this monitor lizard knows how to party. Chlorine be damned.

In a report by Channel NewsAsia, Sports Singapore – who’s in charge of the complex – spotted the metre-long reptile at approximately 3pm on Monday (Feb 14) when the complex was closed for weekly pool maintenance.

Fortunately only the staff and workers were present during the sighting. No injuries were reported as the on-site pest control vendor captured the reptile and subsequently released it into the wild.

Don’t worry, the pool was cleaned and tested for hygiene following the incident to ensure patrons can safely enjoy a reptile-free pool once more.

In a statement by centre manager of Jurong East Sports Centre Ramasess Ramakrishnan, he said that the centre is “investigating the matter and will ensure that all facilities continue to be safe for patrons.”
