Animal activists are looking for any information pertaining to a black cat that tragically died after being thrown from a residential block in Hougang recently.
Jasmine Tan appealed for witnesses and surveillance footage on the Hougang Community Cats Facebook group yesterday after a black cat named Tuxy was found dead at the bottom of Block 614 Hougang Avenue 8.
Tan said that the feline was a new community cat in the neighborhood.
She added that one of Tuxy’s feeders was threatened by a suspicious woman last week who claimed that the cat regularly pooped in her home.
“Last week a feeder was confronted by a skinny Chinese woman in her 30’s saying Tuxy is disgusting and goes to her house to defecate. She also threatened to assault a feeder,” Tan wrote.
Tan asked the public to reach out if anyone knows her or saw her harassing the community cats.
A report has been filed with the Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS), which is investigating, Tan said.
The incident is another addition to a number of depressing and bizarre stories of cat abuse in Singapore recently. One involved a boy who mercilessly threw a cat from the 22nd story of a Boon Lay block in December, while another involved a teenager who was caught humping a cat on surveillance cameras last month.
