Animal lovers in Singapore were shocked by surveillance footage circulating online today supposedly showing a young boy mercilessly throwing a cat from the 22nd story of a housing block.

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) last night said that they have reported the boy, who threw the black cat off the ledge on Wednesday, to the authorities.

“We are deeply disturbed by the actions captured in the footage,” the organization wrote on social media, calling on the public to report any animal abuse to them if witnessed.

A Facebook user who goes by Feline posted the CCTV footage of the incident (which indicates it took place on Dec 14) last night. In the caption, she refers to the perpetrator as “satan boy” and says he lured the animal, who is a community cat named Panther, to the 22nd storey of Block 186 Boon Lay Avenue.

“Sickening and disgusting behaviour. Serial killers usually start with abusing animals first,” she wrote in the caption.

The disturbing clip shows the boy exiting the lift with the cat and catching it when it tries to run away. He then stops and looks around to see if there are any witnesses before flinging the cat off the ledge.

Feline updated her post to say that the boy is in police custody after being caught for trying to throw another cat.

In a post about the incident, one Redditor with the handle Anabello wrote that a resident feeder said that there have been at least eight cats who died from being thrown down from that block in the past year.
