As expected for all pop concerts of massively mainstream caliber, all tickets to the upcoming Ed Sheeran concert in November were quickly snapped up in less than an hour.
Overwhelming response to catch the singer behind unabashedly sentimental hits such as ‘Shape of You’ and ‘Castle on the Hill’ saw online ticket sales completely sold out within 40 minutes — the same situation as the recent Coldplay gig. Concert organizers AEG Presents were wise enough to anticipate the rabid rush for tickets and quickly announced a second show to be held on Nov 12, the night after Sheeran’s first one.
But just like the Coldplay gig, scalpers are running wild and selling the tickets at way higher prices than usual. The highest-priced ticket officially sold by Sports Hub goes for $248, but on reselling site Viagogo, they’re going for as high as $1,350 a pop for the Nov 11 show.
Reselling tickets at inflated prices is prohibited, of course — and one that would lead to cancellation without refunds or compensation — but we wouldn’t be surprised at all if some really hardcore Ed Heads (is that what his fans are called?) would cough out that much cash for a seat.
Anyway, fuck scalpers; you’re only giving them more reason to thrive and letting them ruining the experience for proper fans if you buy from ‘em.
