Despite warnings not to buy flipped Coldplay concert tickets, fans are still looking to buy from resellers

Woe be to Coldplay fans desperate to secure spots to see the band play in what’s probably their last tour. Tickets that were assigned for Citibank customers to their concert next yearhave all been snapped up.

What’s shocking is that all 12,000 tickets were gone within an hour when they went on sale yesterday morning. The thing is, the sale was meant to go on from Nov 17 (yesterday) till Nov 19 (tomorrow). We sure have a lot of Coldplay fans, eh? That’s despite the fact that their last two records were total crap — but hey, that’s just our opinion.

But are they really fans, though? Because as soon as the tickets were snapped up, scalpers put them up on sale pretty much immediately on various platforms online, with some even selling Cat 1 seats for $3,150. That’s more than 10 times the original price of $268. Really kena.

The bevy of offers for the flipped tickets, however, have now vanished from popular online marketplace Carousell, though they can still be found on other sites like HardwareZone and Gumtree.

The widespread crackdown on Carousell’s scalpers can be attributed to the concert organiser’s awareness of the exorbitant resale prices. Speaking to The Straits Times, Live Nation Lushington assured they’d be reaching out to all reselling platforms to order a takedown of the listings. As an extra layer of punitive action, they’re standing ready to prohibit people with resale tickets from entering the concert grounds.

Despite that warning, some determined Coldplay fans are adamant about securing their place at the concert in the National Stadium. On Carousell, folks are still clamouring for resale tickets. We can only imagine the heartbreak they’ll probably receive when they get turned away on the night of the show, like a cruel April Fool’s joke played on them.

For fans who really want tickets the legit way, the best thing to do is to subscribe to the Live Nation Lushington mailing list — presale tickets for subscribers will go on sale on Nov 20 (Sunday) at 10am. Those who aren’t so bothered about rushing can just wait for public ticket sales that’ll launch on Nov 21 (Monday) at 10am.
