Drown out the sounds of the crowd with some tunes taking after Singapore’s train stations for your next commute.
A Redditor blessed Singapore’s subreddit with six curated Spotify playlists for each MRT line: North-South Line, East-West Line, North-East Line, Circle Line, Downtown Line and the latest Thomson–East Coast Line which officially opened yesterday.
“In commemoration of the opening of the Thomson East-Coast Line Stage 3 (TEL3) today, and very much inspired by this, I have put together a map of every MRT station in Singapore as a Spotify track,” user Khsirmio wrote.
The user said the tracks, with some matching the stations’ names, were put together based on their relevance to the city-state but admitted that it’s still “far from perfect” and will be updated periodically with more local tunes. Suggestions are more than welcome!
Its songs are diversified. Most of the playlists collated over 30 songs each ranging from instrumentals, jazz, pop, ballads, rap and even the blues from both local and international artists. There’s a hard spit on Bishan by Hustler Hiran, a pop-py groove track Somerset by Gabby, an eerie movie-like soundtrack Tampines by Blunt Puncture, and a sweet serenade to The Girl from Katong by Serenaide, among many others.
There are also songs in Mandarin, Malay and Hindi, apart from English.
The user’s personal favorite playlist is the North-South Line and revealed that some easter eggs were hidden in the playlists.
