Fireworks entertainment Star Island is returning after two years to blast in the new year at Marina Bay.

The show will run for a full 80 minutes with a myriad of sights and sounds on New Year’s Eve at The Float at Marina Bay in conjunction with the annual Marina Bay Singapore Countdown. There will be a symphony of colorful sparks in the skies, dynamic laser displays and stage performances.

“We are determined to create the best countdown experience for Singaporeans and international tourists alike to usher in the New Year,” Executive Producer of Star Island Kenji Kohashi said in a news release.

The theme this year is a more futuristic take on summer in Japan, where guests can indulge in food and drinks while enjoying the fireworks, and will adopt a new storyline LIFE – Beyond The Time which follows a space and time theme.

The fireworks will come in various “never before seen” designs in Singapore like the “Gradation Shell” fireworks which is a red and white time gradation display to honor the city-state’s colors. There will also be 10 other designs that won numerous awards during competitions.

Event sponsor Sanrio will showcase appearances of signature characters, and there will be a live pre-show gig helmed by DJ Hello Kitty (who many, like us, don’t know she spins), and a Sanrio-themed family area.

There will be a prequel show from Christmas Day to Dec. 30 at the Marina Bay Sands Event Plaza where admission is free to the public. Booths from JCB, Sanrio, Penfolds and Jim Beam Highball will be present as well as a Sanrio Character pop-up store for the kids. DJ Hello Kitty also has her own merch available for sale!

Tickets on the actual New Year’s Eve day at The Float start from S$88.

Update: Prequel show dates will run from Dec. 25 to Dec. 30.
