Singaporeans will get a virtual taste of the Taiwanese night market experience next month when one takes place exclusively online.
Named after one of Taipei’s most famous destinations, Shilin Singapore returns June 12 with close to 100 virtual stalls selling nearly everything one would expect – and yes, that means bubble tea. Instead of being held at the Singapore Turf Club, it will take be held via its website across two weekends.
The online marketplace will be divided into four zones named Eat, Shop, Play, and Fun, where viewers can stream live performances and virtually hangout with other shoppers. They can also buy products as well as delicious food through live streams for home delivery.
The online festival’s pop-up stores will come from across the food, retail, and entertainment industries. Shopee will host daily live streams and auctions.
Other things to shop for will include cult favorites like lu rou fan, or Taiwanese braised pork rice, and self-care packs from homegrown artisanal brands. There is also Taiwanese bubble tea brand Playmade, traditional Singapore bakery D’Bun, and local perfume label Scent by Six.
Entertaining online shoppers will be music acts such as Singapore’s Cha Ban Sheng, Nat Wu, Yokez, Marcus Lee, and Taiwanese singer Caryson.
Exclusive prizes and vouchers can also be won through digital games.
Digital Shilin Singapore runs online from 3pm to 11pm on June 12, and from noon to 11pm on June 13, 14, and 19-21.
