ABS-CBN journalist Doris Bigornia’s recent open-heart surgery was successful, her daughter Nikki Bigornia announced yesterday.
In a tweet, Nikki thanked everyone who prayed for her mother’s recovery.
“She had her surgery the other day and it was successful. However, we’re asking for your continued prayers so mommy can recover,” Nikki wrote.

“I have given her your messages and your love, and she is thanking everyone. My family and I also thank you because you have given us strength and hope. We love you,” she added.
Ako rin po at ang aming pamilya ay nagpapasalamat sa inyong lahat. Dahil nabigyan niyo po kami ng lakas at pag-asa

Doris’s health problem was made public by her Teleradyo co-anchor Alvin Elchico, who said on their program last month that she was rushed to the hospital after having a heart attack.
Dubbed as the “Muse of the Masses,” Doris is one of the Philippines’ more controversial journalists. Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Assistant Secretary Celine Pialago called her the “devil” in December for making an allegedly “misleading” report about the re-opening of a U-turn slot in Quezon City. In 2016, a Davao City-based GMA reporter complained that Bigornia threatened to hit his colleague when she was told to step aside so she wouldn’t appear on their camera.
