Religious school student in Pahang collapses and dies while taking exam

A student attending a religious school in Pekan, Pahang, died while sitting for the Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) examination yesterday morning.

Pahang Islamic Affairs Department director Mohamad Noor Abdul Rani told Bernama that the student, 18-year old Tengku Nur Najihah Tengku Marzuki from the Kulliah Al Lughah Waddin As Sultan Abu Bakar school, collapsed and died at around 10.30am while waiting to sit for her Arudh examination paper.

“At that time, she was reported to be studying in the school prayer room while waiting to sit for the paper on the last day of the STAM examination today.

“However, she was reported to have suddenly collapsed, causing her friends to inform the school before an ambulance was called,” he said.

Tengku Najihah’s body was taken to the Pekan District Hospital for post-mortem, where her family retrieved her at 3pm for burial in Kampung Balok.
