New Youth Minister would like to be addressed by staff as ‘bro Saddiq’

Newly appointed Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Abd Rahman had his first day at work today, and the PPBM kid-wonder, slash two-time Oxford dismisser, wants to throw all formalities out the door.

Setting a precedent that he was a different sort of Youth Minister, the kind that was actually, technically, still a youth, he asked his staff to do away with using the YB (Yang Berhormat) title.

Instead, he’d like to he referred to as something fresher, cooler.

“I hope people will call me ‘bro Saddiq. Calling me YB makes me feel older,” he said while explaining that he wants to break down the barriers within the ministry.

Yes, nothing like putting everyone completely at ease by requesting that they refer to you by your super cool new title, “bro.”

While he did not elaborate what the proverbial barriers were, nor who put them there, he did express his intentions to nurture an active lifestyle with his staff, saying that it would be great if they could join him for a jog in the early morning or evening.

For sure, bro. We’ll see you on the quad, hermano!

Meanwhile, we’ve taken the liberty to compile an incomplete list of other “cool minister” prefixes, should “bro Saddiq” not catch on:

Yung Saddiq

Yung ‘diq

Lil ‘diq

Lil ‘diq 84 (an homage to his Muar constituency’s postal code, 84000)
