A delivery man died on the road yesterday after a tree branch fell on him during the heavy rain.
The unnamed 20-year-old was riding his motorbike along Jalan Damai Jasa in the Alam Damai housing area in Cheras at around 4pm when the incident happened. A photo of the scene showed the vehicle smashed under the large tree branch as well as a green bag by delivery service Grab.
“It was raining heavily at the time of the incident,” Zulkefly Yahya, who leads the Kuala Lumpur traffic investigations and enforcement department, told reporters yesterday. “Rescue personnel had to cut the branch to get to the victim while the motorcycle was badly damaged in the middle.”
Other videos of the incident showed members of the public carrying a body from under the tree and to the nearby Petronas petrol station during the heavy thunderstorm.
The body was taken to the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital.
Grab did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
