A freak storm hit Kuala Lumpur yesterday afternoon, shattering a glass window at the Etiqa Academy building along Jalan Melaka.

A video of the incident showed at least four women screaming and running as the window near a Maybank ATM machine imploded, covering the floor with shards of glass. The building is commonly used by passersby as shelter from the rain, which poured through Kuala Lumpur yesterday from around 4pm.

No major injuries were reported from yesterday’s incident, although some said that they found pieces of glass on them. The Etiqa Academy building is walking distance from the Masjid Jamek train station.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department had forecasted scattered thunderstorms throughout the city. Floods were spotted in some places including Jalan Kuching and Jalan Raja Chulan.
