The first day of school is always an exciting one, especially when your favourite TV characters are there to welcome you.

After months of being homeschooled as part of pandemic restrictions, primary school students aged seven and eight returned to their classrooms today to begin a new school year. Videos posted online showed students entering the SK Kubang Kerian 3 school in Kelantan and SK (P) Sultan Ibrahim in Johor Bahru being welcomed by Transformers’ Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, as well as Baby Shark mascot Pinkfong, respectively.

“The Transformers are here to welcome kids back to school. Awesome!” @K_Izzuddin wrote today.

Students in Pahang were also greeted by classic cartoon character Jerry from Tom and Jerry, while those in Penang were welcomed by Spiderman.

In some of the videos, the towering Transformers mascots were filmed walking in sync on school grounds, while students in Johor Bahru took photos with Pinkfong before entering their classrooms.
