Swarovski has ended ties with controversial personality Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor after their contract expired in December.

The fashion entrepreneur, referred to as Neelofa, confirmed this on Twitter today after the Austrian jewelry company responded to a call for a boycott of the star in a now-deleted tweet confirming that it was no longer working with Neelofa.

“Hello. My contract with Swarovski did end back in December 2020 but we still have a good relationship and will remain that way. Hope this clarifies,” the 32-year-old said. Neelofa became the face of Swarovski in Malaysia in 2017 and was also its first hijab-wearing ambassador.

The former TV host and boss of multiple brands including her hijab fashion line Naelofar has been attracting a lot of negative attention since tying the knot with Islamic preacher Harris Ismail, aka PU Riz, drawing backlash by those who accused the star of being able to dodge the law due to her place in society.

Neelofa, along with some relatives, have since been fined for breaching COVID-19 safety measures at the wedding. The couple was also penalized over their Langkawi post-wedding getaway amid a ban on interstate travel.

“If Neelofa is a Korean [artist], the brands that she is the ambassador of would have terminated the contracts already. Hello @swarovski,” Twitter user @Azba95, who was among those calling for a boycott of Neelofa, said on Tuesday.

Swarovski then replied to him before removing its tweet, saying: “Thank you for reaching out. We can confirm that we’re no longer working with Neelofa.”

The same Twitter user also called on beauty brand Lancome to stop working with Neelofa. Neither Lancome nor Swarovski immediately responded to Coconuts’ request for comment.

Swarovski has not revealed its next Malaysian ambassador, but people on Twitter appear to have selected local actress Nur Fazura Sharifuddin aka Fazura, who has a long-standing rivalry with Neelofa.

“Okay @swarovski you know who’s next. Congratulations @missfazura,” @JatIkhwan said.

“Maybe @swarovski should engage the super gorgeous, talented & unproblematic Queen @missfazura as ambassador & spokesperson for your prestigious brand!!” @TheChekMad wrote.
