The first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri begins on Sunday. Although most of us haven’t been back to our hometowns to visit relatives due to the interstate-travel ban, it doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun.

Wake up, dress up, and check out these TikTok challenges anyone can participate and be part of a social media community this Eid season.

Some of your idols may have joined these challenges, read on to see if you can spot your favorite celebs.

#Wipeitdown

@daiyantrisha22y’all asked for it… ##wipeitdownchallenge♬ Wipe It Down – BMW KENNY

With 1.8 billion views and counting, this massively popular challenge is the one to do while you’re spring cleaning the house since it involves wiping down your mirror and then magically turning into a more glamorous version of yourself.

To nail the challenge, TikTokers stand in front of a mirror while dressed in plain, ordinary clothes and wipe the mirror down with a cleaning solution a couple of times. They then switch to a more dressed up version of themselves and do the same action. With pro editing skills, the clip can look like the TikToker had just seen a ghost of themselves who is better looking. If you need more help, fellow TikToker Leila Ecker has posted a tutorial on how to achieve this challenge.

Local singer-songwriter Daiyan Trisha and YouTuber Azfar Herisyam are just two famous Malaysians who have participated in the challenge, so when is your turn?

#RayaTetapCeria (Raya filled with joy)

@saharulridzwan7Kalau sedih2 tak nama Raya tau! Jom ##RayaTetapCeria. ❤️ ##Ad♬ RayaTetapCeria – Cassandra Mary Ranee Denis Jeyakumar

Sponsored by telco brand Celcom Axiata Berhad, this 2.4 million times-viewed challenge encourages participants to “show off their best Raya style and swag.” It’s basically a transformation video where participants transform into their best selves for Hari Raya. It is kind of like the #Wipeitdown challenge, but without the wiping.

Kau, Aku, Kita (You, Me, We) actor Saharul Ridzwan is one of the official TikTok users promoting the challenge. He begins by appearing to express his disappointment over this year’s quiet Raya together with his son. Within the next few seconds, he changes into his Baju Melayu (traditional Malay attire for men) and hands out a duit raya envelope to the viewer.

#Sunglasseschallenge

Here’s a challenge you can do with your 20 raya visitors that may tickle your funny bone.

It involves placing a pair of sunglasses at the top of your head and then nodding your sunglasses so that they fall perfectly over your eyes when the beat drops.

Despite having 187 million views to date, not many have succeeded in dropping their Matrix-esque accessory, including our local celebrities.

Hero Seorang Cinderella (A Cinderella Hero) actor Fattah Amin did this challenge with local musician Alvin Chong. The actor did not succeed but Chong managed to get it right.

Radio DJ Zetty Nabila also participated in this hashtag. She didn’t succeed either. Who knows, maybe you’ll get lucky.

If you never had the chance to participate in traditional dance back in school, now’s the time to show off your dance moves, Malaysian-style.

The #Malaysiadancechallenge, which has garnered 31 million views as of today, involves participants flaunting their traditional dance moves, including dances from East Malaysia and traditional Malay dances.

#Kuizejaan (spelling bee)

Here’s another back-to-school challenge, and it involves a spelling test. For this challenge, participants need to identify the correct spelling of Malay words by choosing between two very similar-looking words like mertua or mentua (in-law).

Trust us when we say that it can get confusing even for those who paid attention in Malay language classes back in school. The videos in this challenge have managed to get 24.3 million views, so that’s also a lot of education for those stuck at home.

Malaysian songbird Wany Hasrita has tried her hand at this challenge, getting a perfect score of five out of five. Try and beat that!

#RayaOkay

@seanljeSelamat Hari Raya! Sing and dance your way to stand a chance to win an extra MERIAH prize! ##RayaOkay ##SamsungMalaysia ##ad

♬ Duit Raya Entourage – Sharizan Borhan

#RayaOkay is a sponsored contest on TikTok where the most creative entries have a chance to win a Samsung phone. The challenge, which is ongoing until May 31, urges participants to dance, sing, or lip sync to their favorite Hari Raya song. The challenge has recorded over 16 million views so far.

TikTok user and Malaysian actor/host Sean Lee is among those who have done the challenge. He has posted four videos so far, showing himself doing all three – dancing, singing, and lipsyncing to the track Duit Raya Entourage by Malaysian entertainer Sharizan Borhan.
