Video showing a man attacking a female parking attendant at a mall in Yogyakarta is being widely circulated on Indonesian social media. The mall management said that they will take legal action against the alleged assailant.
In a 38-second video uploaded by a Twitter user yesterday, the man, wearing a dark colored t-shirt, can be seen outside a parking booth located in the basement of Jogja City Mall (JCM). He appears to bring his car’s plate number to show to the parking booth attendant and then engages in a heated debate with her. As seen in the clip, his license plate was not attached to his car.
Gais, aku barusan dari JCM. Mobil depan aku platnya nggak keliatan, terus ternyata karcisnya ilang. Eh, dilalah dia nyolot sama Mbak yang jaga pos keluar. Sampe mukul-mukul pos. pic.twitter.com/hYtFYVRXSd

“Guys, I just returned from JCM. The plate number of the car in front of me wasn’t visible, and apparently, his parking ticket was gone. However, he had an attitude with the mbak who attended the parking booth. He was even hitting the booth repeatedly,” the caption reads.
The user posted a follow-up video in which the man’s mother even screamed for help to try and stop the fight. According to the user, he and the attendant ended up hitting each other, though the man clearly started it first. The parking booth attendant was said to be crying hysterically and being consoled by her colleagues, while another man who wanted to help her reportedly got hit by the angry driver.
Akhirnya, beneran pukul-pukulan.

Yang mukul duluan di Mas yang di dalem mobil itu.
Sampe Ibunya minta tolong buat melerai anaknya sendiri. Mbaknya nangis kejer, ditenangin sama temennya, ada mas-mas pake helm bantuin Mbaknya — eh, digebuk juga sama Mas Emosyen. pic.twitter.com/YbyANsUoEI
The driver was reportedly not allowed to exit the mall because the plate number registered on his vehicle registration certificate (STNK) was different from the one actually on his car — which prompted the attendant not to open the parking barrier until her supervisor, the man in the red shirt in the video, came to the scene. The man angrily showed his plate number inside the car trunk to the supervisor before storming back towards the parking booth.
Febrianita Candra Rini, Jogja City Mall’s spokesperson, confirmed that their staff carried out their job according to the mall’s standard operating procedures, which requires them them to look into the car’s ownership status in the event a parking ticket is lost.
“However, maybe the visitor felt displeased [by the procedures], and was suspected of physically assaulting the parking booth attendant,” Candra said, adding that the car park manager did his job while attempting to calm him down, though he allegedly got hit as well.
Candra said that the mall has handed the matter over to authorities so that all involved parties can get “the best solution”.
