WTF: The police didn’t actually ticket Raffi Ahmad for blatant traffic violation

Yesterday, we lauded the police for seemingly ticketing the driver who drove Raffi Ahmad’s Chevrolet Camaro, giving us hope that even celebrities aren’t exempt from this country’s laws.

But how wrong we were. It turned out Raffi Ahmad wasn’t ticketed for the blatant traffic violation as his car drove in the Busway lane – and we won’t even know why.

Hindarsono, head of the Justice Enforcement sub-unit at the Jakarta Traffic Police, claims that there was no record of Raffi Ahmad’s car being ticketed.

“I don’t know, I checked all [reports] and there was no ticketing [for Raffi Ahmad],” Hindarsono told Warta Kota yesterday.

The above photo, taken on Tuesday, clearly shows a police officer pulling Raffi Ahmad’s car over for driving on the Busway lane. So did the officer really let him off because Raffi is some guy who appears on TV a lot? Was the officer star struck?

If that officer pulled any of us commoners over for committing the same traffic violation, we’re willing to bet he’d be quick to dish out a ticket and a fine of around Rp 500,000. But apparently celebrities continue to get special treatment in this country.
