Woman charged with paying 2 men to kill her husband says he was so abusive she doesn’t regret it

A woman in the Indonesian province of Riau has been arrested for hiring two men to kill her husband. The woman told the media that she didn’t regret doing so because her husband has caused her so much heartache with his abusive actions towards her and her children.

The woman, 45-year-old Sinde Silitonga from Siak, Riau, has been charged with hiring two men to kill her husband, 47-year-old Marison Simaremare. According to police, Sinde paid the two men, identified by their initials RM and LH, a mere IDR50,000 (US$3.50) to carry out the job. All three suspects were arrested after RM and LH allegedly beat Marison to death with wooden clubs on Saturday.

Speaking at the Siak Police Station yesterday, Sinde said she no longer felt remorse for the grave crime she has been accused of.

“Yes, I no longer feel a sense of regret. Why? Because my husband has already caused me so much heartache,” Sindhe told reporters, as quoted by Detik

Sinde, who said she was Marison’s fourth wife, told reporters she was often a victim of domestic violence at her husband’s hands. “During my marriage, my husband was always angry and abusive towards me,” she said, adding that he had often tried to bash her head in but she was usually lucky enough to avoid his blows.

The suspect said she had been married to Marison for about two years and that she had four children from a previous marriage while her now-deceased husband had six. She said that their children would often get into fights but Marison would always take the side of his biological children. She also claimed that her husband was generous to his own children but would rarely give her or her children money.

Despite not expressing remorse, Sindhe said she did not hire RM and LH to kill her husband, but to injure him so badly that he couldn’t walk again, as reported by Kompas

Police have charged all three suspects with multiple violations of the law including pre-meditated murder. Each could face up to 20 years in jail or the death penalty.

Just last month, police in Sukabumi, West Java, arrested a woman for allegedly planning the murder of her husband and stepson, whose charred remains were recovered from a burning car. According to investigators, the woman hired four men to carry out the vicious crime and was assisted by her 35-year-old biological son. The woman recently claimed that her plan was inspired by a local sinetron (soap opera).
