Happy Valentine’s Day to you, dear readers. Though this be the day of romance, we must now present you with this cautionary tale of love betrayed and gone awry, as a wife who witnessed her husband with another woman did try to run him down in her Toyota Fortuner..

Our tale took place yesterday in the city of Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan. As told by Kotawaringin Police Chief Yudha Setiawan to Kompas yesterday:

“Actually, the traffic accident between a Toyota Fortuner and a Mitsubishi L300 was motivated by family affair between Ibu Abdi Sunaryati, the Toyota Fortuner driver, and her husband, Muhammad Naim, the Mitsubishi L300 driver.”

The incident began when Abdi was driving in her Fortuner with her child. At a four-way intersection, she spied the Mitsubishi L300 truck with her husband in the driver’s seat — and another woman beside him.

Abdi followed her husband’s car towards the Yuka housing complex in in Sampit City, where he dropped off the other woman.

According to Yudha, that is when Naim realized that his wife was following him, so he sped up while approaching the next intersection.

But he could not outrun his wife’s Fortuner. Abdi crashed her car into her husband’s pickup truck with such speed that it slammed the Mitsubishi L300 headfirst into a tree off the side of the road.

“As a result of the incident, the Mitsubishi L300 pickup truck driven by her husband was badly damaged in the back and front and her husband was injured in the face, chin and left leg. The husband was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital, while Abdi Sunaryati and her child, who was in the Toyota Fortuner, did not suffer injuries. Only her car was badly damaged in the front,” Yudha said.

And so, dear readers, we leave you with this advice: always be true and loyal to your loved ones, or be prepared to suffer the consequences. And, always remember to wear a seat belt.
