It was not the smoothest of days for this alleged criminal, who was struck by the misfortune of being stuck in a door, of all things, before he could make his getaway.
A 30-year-old North Sumatra man, known by his initials BI, broke into two houses in the early hours of last Thursday. While he ransacked the first house without a hitch, BI became a victim of his own carelessness at the second house.
CCTV footage from the house showed that he propped open a red steel door that led outside with a block of wood as he retrieved his stolen items.
BI then tried to wiggle through the gap, only for the block of wood to come off and for the door to close on him mid-way through, trapping him in the doorway by the abdomen.
BI was stuck in the door for five hours. The owner of the house, who slept through BI’s attempted burglary, woke up later that morning and found the thief in agony. He then called the police on BI.
Police arrived and pushed the heavy door open before arresting BI. Police said they took him to the hospital to treat his injuries ahead of expected jail time.
