There are few people more douchey than tailgaters who flash their high beams. A driver who installed extremely bright tail lights on their Toyota Fortuner might be one of them.

A video posted on an Instagram community page for dash cam owners has been making the rounds online. It shows someone tailing the white SUV while filming (incidentally, using a phone and not a dash cam) in order to shame what he and his passenger called a “tacky” Fortuner.

Just like high beams on a car’s headlights, the custom tail lights were so bright they were seemingly designed to blind other drivers — presumably to thwart off tailgaters.

Based on the license plate of the Fortuner, which was mentioned out loud in the video, it appears that the video was taken in Batam, Riau Islands. The National Police and the Riau Islands Police were also tagged in the post.

Other than for reverse lights, Indonesian traffic regulations prohibit the installation of white light in a vehicle’s rear as it may impair other drivers’ vision. Violators may face two months’ imprisonment or a fine of IDR500K (US$32.94).

Fine or not, just don’t be a douche on the road. Especially if you drive a Fortuner, which already unfairly has a bad rep thanks to misbehaving motorists.
