An empty carriage on a KRL Commuterline train presented an irresistible opportunity for foolish teenage boys to act like foolish teenage boys, but Indonesian netizens didn’t find their antics that amusing.

Yesterday, Instagram news aggregator account @jktinfo shared a video showing several young men, seemingly in their late teens, getting up to all sorts of mischief in a KRL train carriage at night.

First, two of them, in an impressive show of their core strength, acrobatically dangled upside down while gripping the carriage’s hand holders. Later, they opened a window and stuck their heads out while the train was moving, apparently oblivious or unworried about the obvious danger of that idiotic act.

Luckily, no one was injured during the gymnastics performance or while poking out their heads. But after the video went viral, many netizens were outraged by the teens’ perceived vandalism of public property. KRL Commuterline operator PT KCI has also condemned their actions.

“We have seen the video and we deeply regret their actions. Other than potentially damaging the facilities, their actions could have been dangerous for them. Right now we are investigating when it happened and who the young people are,” said PT KCI Spokeswoman Eva Chairunisa, as quoted by Kompas today.

Well, we can safely say when it couldn’t have happened: rush hour.
