We are well into rainy season at this point and we should all be extra careful because it looks like extreme wind is going to be a serious concern this year. Just days after a tornado hit parts of nearby Bogor, a heavy afternoon thunderstorm in Jakarta caused wind speeds strong enough to tear the roof off of one structure in Kuningan, South Jakarta.
This dramatic video was taken just before noon at the Rasuna Garden Food Street near the Taman Rasuna Apartments and the Epicenter shopping complex. The scary clip was shared by the official Twitter account of the Jakarta Disaster Management Agency (BPBD DKI)

The caption says that BPBD DKI is “in the process of handling” the incident but doesn’t offer more details beyond the location.
The clip starts with the roof already swaying due to the fierce winds while those underneath watch with horror and screams can be heard once it’s clear that it’s not going to stay put, though it looks like the person who took the video and others were able to find more stable shelter nearby. The reports we’ve read say there were no casualties caused by the incident but it definitely looks like a lot of people lost their lunches.

Bogor was also hit with extreme weather in the form of a tornado on Sunday, which officials said damaged around 900 homes.
