Indonesia still has a long way to go in terms of awareness about animal welfare, but there is no doubt that there are many Indonesians willing to go above and beyond to help protect our furry friends.
The traffic cop in this video, for one, has totally restored our faith in humanity by taking the time to make sure that a cute little cat was able to cross a busy street in South Sumatra safely.

Yeah, we lost it after the cat meowed for help too… Kind cop, smart kitty.
According to the caption attached to the video, which was shared by the South Sumatra Traffic Management Center Instagram account, the cat crossing cuteness took place this morning at Jl. Merdeka in the Sekayu district of Musi Banyuasin Regency.
The caption also says: “All living beings must be guarded and protected, because they are also God’s creation.”
Since its original share this morning, the video has quickly gone viral with Indonesian netizens talking about how touched they were by the officer’s dutiful kindness towards the kitty.

We add to them our thanks and well wishes to the police officer in this video for his commitment to protecting all Indonesians, big and small, furry and non-furry. He joins a fine tradition of police men and women around the world that have helped animals cross our dangerous human streets.
