Remember that one Friends episode where Ross accidentally said Rachel’s name while he was saying his wedding vows to his British fiancé at the altar? Well, what happened to this Indonesian groom in real life is at least as embarrassing as that.
Recently, a 20-year-old man named Nokies Febrianto became rather famous in Indonesia thanks to a viral video. During his wedding last week in Wajo Regency, South Sulawesi, he caused quite a scene by hugging a woman who was singing at the special occasion before he passed out.

What made this a truly, exceptionally awkward situation is that the singer is his ex-girlfriend.
After the video inevitably made the rounds online in Indonesia, local media outlets caught up with the viral man of the hour who explained why he decided to go up to Novi, his singing ex, at the wedding and hug her.
“It was like I was hypnotized by Novi’s presence as she sang ‘Balo Lipa’. I felt sad and sorry for her but I wasn’t thinking when I came down and hugged her,” Nokies told Detik, adding that he fainted for about 30 minutes.
Denying speculation that cracks are already appearing in his young marriage due to the incident, Nokies said he remains committed to his wife, 18-year-old Anhy.
“My wife is perfect in my eyes. I will remain loyal to her,” he said.
Anhy too, surprisingly, continues to support her husband and even understands why he felt compelled to hug his ex.
“I saw Novi’s face, and she was so beautiful that day, her face was glowing. Even I was hypnotized, let alone my husband,” she told Detik.
Anhy revealed that she knew about Novi’s previous relationship with her husband and the sad story behind its demise. According to her, Novi and Nokies dated for about a year but Novi’s parents did not give their blessings for the couple to get married.
For her part, Novi said she accepted her ex’s wedding invitation and request to sing at the wedding due to her continued good relations with Nokies’ family.
“I was paying my respects to his mother and father, they’re like parents to me, they love me very much. But fate has ruled otherwise, and I have accepted it,” Novi said, as quoted by Detik.
Well, let this be a lesson to anyone who’s thinking of inviting ex-lovers to their wedding.
