The Jakarta Police denied the validity of a photo that went viral which supposedly showed the mysterious shooter of the Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ministry on Thursday.
Police shot down the rumors by clarifying that the person in that photograph was actually Adj. Sr. Comr. Herry Heryawan.
Herry was searching for evidence along the Casablanca Flyover when the photo was taken.
“At the time, [Herry] was sweeping [the Casablanca Flyover for evidence] while wearing civilian clothing,” said Krishna Murti, director of the Public Crimes Investigation Unit at the Jakarta Police, as quoted by Okezone yesterday.
Herry Heryawan also confirmed to reporters that it was him in the photograph.
That said, the police’s ballistic report showed that the bullet was indeed likely to be fired 35.8 meters out from the office, specifically from atop the Casablanca Flyover. The police believe the shot was fired from inside a car since the police didn’t find any bullet casings on the flyover.
However, the police haven’t announced whether they have identified a suspect in the shooting or not.
The mysterious shooter fired a shot at the ESDM Ministry office in Jalan Rasuna Said on Thursday afternoon, leaving a hole in one of the building’s windows. No one was hurt from the single gunfire.
