A little girl in Indonesia has proven that sometimes the thought really does count much more than the gift itself, drawing praise from many across the country.

Recently, Indonesian charity organization Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) posted a couple of photos on their Instagram account showing a donation from a little girl for the organization’s Palestinian aid efforts.

“Assalammu’alaykum, maaf ya aku kasih sedikit. Soalnya aku gaada ATM, jadi aku kirim, aku pengen kasih ke Palestina, tapi gatau tempatnya. Aku liat ACT ada alamatnya. Karena jauh, jadi aku kirim. Maaf sedikit, semoga bermanfaat :)” . 🙂 . #LetsACTIndonesia #ACTForHumanity #Humanity #KapalKemanusiaan #LetsSavePalestine #Palestina #Palestine #Humanity #Philantropy #Volunteerism #Gaza #SolidaritasKemanusiaanDuniaIslam

What was so unusual about the donation is its relatively small monetary value of IDR15,000 (US$1.12) and that it came with a handwritten note that said, “I’m sorry I only gave a little bit. That’s because there is no ATM. I want to send, I want to give to Palestine, but I don’t know where to send it to. I saw that ACT has an address. Because it’s far, I mailed it. I’m sorry it’s only a little, I hope it helps.”

A drawing also came in the mail, showing the Palestinian and Indonesian flags side by side while ACT volunteers helped Palestinians.

“The Palestine issue has spurred into action people across ages, nationalities, and professions. It has become part of the people’s lives. It’s not the amount (of the donation) that matters, even a kid was spurred into action,” said ACT Communications Department Deputy Head Iqbal Setyarso, as quoted by Kumparan yesterday.

“Indonesia should be proud that it has people who have great sense of care toward others.”

ACT said the girl, whose name is Naurah, is still in elementary school. She is the second elementary schooler to go viral on social media for her precocious sense of responsibility after a young boy won praise nationwide for owning up to scratching someone else’s car with his bike with an adorable handwritten note.
