VIDEO: Indonesia’s disabled motorbike taxi service moving people and changing lives

The lack of accessibility to the country’s limited public transportation options has long made it extremely difficult for Indonesians with disabilities to get around. Fortunately, just as ride-hailing apps like Go-Jek, Grab and Uber are filling the gaps in the nation’s public transportation system, a new service in Yogyakarta called Difa-jek, a combination of the Indonesian words for “disabled” and “ojek” (motorcycle taxis)  is giving those with limited mobility the chance to get around as never before while also giving those with disabilities a chance to become drivers and become more economically empowered, as Reuters’ Yiming Woo reports from Yogyakarta.

Difa-Jek also gives tours around Yogyakarta for visitors. For more information, visit their Facebook page or call 0823-2801-6326
