Uber to launch Uber Pool ride-sharing feature in Jakarta

Uber, the growing global giant of ride hailing apps, has recently taken new steps to further expand in Indonesia, including taking cash payments, despite the legal roadblocks the company has faced during its existence in the country.

Now, Uber is planning to launch its Uber Pool ride-sharing feature in Jakarta. As the name suggests, the feature allows separate Uber users to share the same car, along with its fare.

“With Uber Pool, several passengers with the same destination can share one Uber taxi. Other than having to pay a much smaller fare because they’re sharing it among them, this can also be a solution [to reduce] traffic jams,” said Karun Arya, communication head for Uber in South Asia and Indonesia, as quoted by BeritaSatu.

“This feature has the same purpose as [Jakarta’s] three-in-one program (that only allows cars containing at least 3 passengers to enter the city’s main roads during rush hour).”

Uber Pool was previously launched in New York, USA, and Bangalore, India.
