Two men arrested for mutilating the body of their friend and burying his body in cement in East Jakarta

Two East Jakarta residents, identified as RL (41) and RH (42) were arrested after their gruesome attempt to hide a dead body failed.

RL, an angkot minivan driver, has been named a suspect in the murder of SL (43), who was his friend and fellow angkot driver.

“The motive was that he (RL) was angry that the victim asked for money,” said Cipayung Police Chief Dedi Wahyudi, as quoted by Detik yesterday.

According to the police, the murder happened on October 24 in Pondok Gede, East Jakarta. RL and SL got into an argument, during which RL whacked SL in the head with a steel rod, killing him.

RL then sought the help of his friend, RH, to cover up the crime. They took SL’s body to a house in Cipayung, and buried him in a 1-meter deep hole in the backyard, which they closed up with cement.

RL and RH were eventually arrested thanks to the actions of RL’s wife, identified as A. A knew about the murder, but RL locked her up so she wouldn’t tell anyone. She eventually managed to escape and reported on her husband to the neighborhood chief, who then alerted the police.

The police are working to dig up SL’s body. However, it appears that RL and RH chopped SL up before they buried him, as the police haven’t been able to find all of SL’s body parts.

It’s not yet clear what charges RL and RH will face.
