Anyone who’s taken the KRL Commuterline in Jakarta know it’s a dog-eat-dog world on board the train, especially during rush hour.
There are plenty of courteous passengers on the KRL, but there are also, unfortunately, all kinds of a-holes as well, such as those who pretend to be asleep so that they won’t have to give up their seat to someone who deserves it more, or those who are willing to get into an altercation over a seat.
The ladies in the viral video below, allegedly, fall into the latter category.

There’s so much hair pulling going on to figure out what set the two women off. The video above became viral when it was posted on April 24, but the incident became a hot topic of discussion again yesterday after another video, showing another angle to the fight, was posted by a Kompas reporter on Twitter.

The reporter then posted a follow up tweet, showing a screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation she had with PT KAI Commuterline Jabodetabek (KRJ) Spokesperson Eva Chairunnisa. In the chat, Eva confirmed that the two women, who were on the Bekasi line, were fighting over a seat.

Eva also confirmed the incident to Kumparan yesterday, saying that it happened in a ladies cabin (KRL Commuterline provides ladies-only cabins on the front and back carriage of every train, mainly to prevent sexual harassment). She said the two women were kicked out of the train at the next stop, but neither pressed charges against the other.
Eva warned that anyone fighting in the KRL can expect the same treatment, and the police may be involved depending on the severity of the fight.
