A PT Pertamina fuel tanker truck fell off a cliff and exploded near Jalan Raya Cigudeg in the Bogor Regency today.
The truck driver and his assistant both died from the explosion and the resulting fire.
Authorities believe the driver was at fault for steering the truck over a 15-meter high cliff.
“The driver drove the fuel tanker at such a high speed. We suspect he lost control of the vehicle, hit an electric pole and fell off into a cliff,” said Cigudeg Police Chief Commissioner Imam Sudarso, as quoted by Vivanews.
The two people in the truck, whose identities weren’t disclosed, were trapped in the vehicle when it exploded.
There were no other reported casualties from the incident.
