True love: Bride realizes true meaning of marriage after groom falls sick on wedding day

What’s more important, a perfect fairytale wedding or a happy ever after?

It’s so easy to get caught up in the stresses of planning a wedding that some couples lose sight of what getting married really means. This story from Jakarta, as told through the bride’s Instagram posts, serves as a heartwarming message about the true spirit of marriage.

Jakarta citizen Gitaditya Witono was so intent on having the perfect wedding that she constantly fretted about it as the day neared. She even called herself “bridezilla” in her latest blog post.

Finally, the wedding day came and she married the man of her dreams at St Ignatius Loyola Church last weekend.

But as the photo’s caption states, her new husband, Maskoko, unfortunately had to go to a hospital right after the ceremony because his thrombocyte levels had dropped. This was before the couple’s wedding reception, which still had to go ahead even without Maskoko as it was planned months in advance.

So, instead of having Maskoko by her side, Gitaditya went to the reception alone, carrying a keris dagger meant to represent her husband.

Instead of getting upset because the wedding reception clearly didn’t go as planned, Gitaditya said she realized that one night’s event compares little to a lifetime of happiness with Maskoko:

We’re just going to reproduce her caption in full here because it’s just so damn adorable:

He never choose to be sick. The day before, he told me that he was afraid that I will get mad at him if he can not make it to the wedding reception. When I heard it, I feel so guilty as I put so much pressure on him in the last 2 weeks to make the whole wedding event perfect. He work hard to meet my expectation, and me? His expectation is only having a happy day with me, and yet what I can show is only sadness, worry feeling and probably a little bit disappointment.

He had no choice, but I had a choice. I had a choice not to make another drama. To put my prettiest smile and be grateful for everything.

I thought I will be crying outloud in the hospital, but then the magic happened. The moment I saw him, I felt so happy that I couldn’t stop smiling and holding his hand.

Then I understand, the wedding is not about the event. Yes, we work hard and prepare carefully for the whole event, but the most important thing is us! Nobody want to walk the aisle alone, nobody want to be sad at their wedding day. It’s a destiny that I walked the aisle by myself, but it’s a choice to be happy on that day.
I am sorry maskoko for all the hard time I gave you in the last 2 months. Now I realize that all those crazy small things mean nothing compare to your health and your happiness. Let’s start this journey together 🙂 I love you.

Awwwwww. We hope Maskoko recovers soon and we wish this newlywed couple a lifetime of happiness together.
