Train operator attributes recent drop in KRL Commuterline passengers to terror attack

One of the possible effects of a terrorist attack like the one in Jakarta last month is that some people may be more cautious about going out in public.

That seems to be reflected in the decrease of KRL Commuterline passengers lately.

“Ever since the Thamrin explosions, our data show that there’s been a decrease in KRL passengers,” said PT KAI Commuter Jabodetabek (KCJ) First Director Muhammad Nurul Fadhila, as quoted by BeritaSatu.

According to Muhammad, the daily average of KRL passengers after the January 14th terrorist attack has gone down to 800,000 from the usual 830,000.

“Sometimes the number could even go below 800,000,” he added.

However, Muhammad admitted that there might be other factors that contributed to the decrease, such as the recent spate of heavy rainfall.
