Three high school students were involved in the Jagakarsa prison break in South Jakarta, in which five inmates escaped early on Monday morning.

Head of the Crime Investigation Unit at the South Jakarta Police, Indra F Siregar, said the three teenage boys supplied one of the escaped inmates with a saw during visiting hours. It must have been a really small saw to have gone unnoticed by prison guards.

“Those who supplied the saw to the inmate was AM (18), MSS (17), and UQ (16). They’re all from the same school,” Indra said today, as quoted by Vivanews

The saw was then used to cut through prison bars while everybody was asleep in the early hours on Monday.

It wasn’t revealed what relation any of the boys had with any of the five escaped inmates.

Luckily, the police have captured all five escaped inmates. Even so, the boys may be facing some jail time of their own.
