While the number of train and bus options will be cut significantly during Idul Fitri, you can always just get a taxi, right? Well, if you’re the sort of person who only takes Blue Bird taxis, then you’ll find it’ll be about twice as hard as usual to find one over the holidays.
According to Teguh Wijayanto, the head of at public relations at PT Blue Bird Group, during the Lebaran holiday only about half of the usual number of the company’s taxis will be operating in Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, Depok and Bekasi as most of the drivers will have gone “pulang kampung”.
“In total there are more than 15,000 drivers in Greater Jakarta. Usually the reduction occurs on the first and second day of Eid,” Teguh told Tempo yesterday.
Teguh also said the company provides special incentives for drivers who want to work during Idul Fitri but that it did not require any drivers to work on those days.
Our advice – don’t even bother taking to the streets to look for a taxi, just go straight to the app.
