The Jakarta Metro Police is investigating an assault case allegedly involving action megastar and martial arts master Iko Uwais.

The Hollywood star was reported to the police by his alleged assault victim R, who is reportedly Iko’s neighbor and interior designer.

Jakarta Metro Police spokesman Endra Zulpan outlined R’s claim against Iko in a press conference today. According to the victim, Iko had hired him to design his new house in Cibubur, and had paid half of the fee up front.

R then recently sent an invoice for the rest of the payment to Iko via WhatsApp.

“But Iko Uwais did not respond [to the message],” Endra said.

On Saturday, R and his wife were driving past Iko’s house in Bekasi, West Java when the movie star saw them and told them to get out of the car. The couple then engaged in a verbal argument with Iko and his wife, singer Audy Item, as well as a colleague named Firmansyah.

“After the verbal argument, Iko and Firmansyah punched the victim until he was bleeding. The victim then reported the incident to the Bekasi Metro Police,” Endra said.

R reportedly sustained bruises in his face, right arm, and back.

Police are questioning all parties involved and have yet to announce charges.

Iko is undoubtedly one of the country’s biggest movie stars. After breaking through into global fame through The Raid (2011) and its sequel The Raid 2: Berandal (2014), Iko has starred in several Hollywood movies in recent years, which has cemented his worldwide recognition as a bonafide action star.
